Second Mongolia National Consultation on SDG4-Education 2030

The UNESCO led Second Mongolia National Consultation on SDG4-Education 2030 combined with the official Launch of the Global Education Monitoring Report (GEMR) 2017/8, Accountability in Education will be held on 31 May 2018 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and combined with the capacity building workshop in SDG4 Statistics and Indicators. The Launch of the 2017/18 Global Monitoring Report coincides with the Second follow-up 2018 consultation on SDG4-Education 2030 localization in Mongolia.

The second Mongolia National SDG4-Education 2030 localization is being organized in close partnership and collaboration with Mongolia Ministry of Education, Culture, Sciences and Sports, Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, UNICEF Country Office in Mongolia and UNESCO Beijing Cluster Office.

The main objective of the second 2018 national consultation is to further deepen the localization process and track progress of SDG 4-education 2030 Agenda including related SDG4 targets and indicators. Besides reviewing the progress and achievements Mongolia has made in the implementation of SDG 4 and Education 2030 Agenda since 2016, the consultation will also focus on the challenges and progress made to move forward on the realization of the SDG 4 and Education 2030 Agenda. Education stakeholders will hold the dialogue to assess progress made at country level and review the key recommendations of the APMED I, APMED II & 2017 APMED III recommendations of SDG4.7 meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.

The second objective of the consultation is to formally launch and present the main highlights of the Global Education Monitoring Report (GEMR) Report 2017/8 on Accountability in Education to the education stakeholders in Mongolia.
The National Consultation will bring together more than 30 major stakeholders in education and related fields. Key attendees of the workshop will include government officials, researchers from universities, development partners, civil society organizations, UN Resident Coordinator, colleagues from various Development Partners and UN Agencies based in Ulaanbaatar.
