IBE Learning Series - Launch of the 2019 Global Education Monitoring Report in Switzerland

Timed to coincide with International Migrants Day and soon after the planned adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, which covers the central role of education for inclusive and cohesive societies, the event will discuss key findings and recommendations from the 2019 Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM) Report and reflect on the inclusion of migrant children and youth in national education systems and education’s role in making societies more resilient to migrant flows.

This joint event hosted by UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring Report and International Bureau of Education (IBE) will open with welcome remarks from IBE-UNESCO Director Dr. Mmantsetsa Marope. A high-level panel consisting of education policy makers, representatives of international institutions, academics and practitioners will reflect on the capacity of the education systems to include children and youth from migrant backgrounds.

Speakers:
- Manos Antoninis, Director of the Global Education Monitoring Report
- Mmantsetsa Marope, IBE-UNESCO Director
- Pia Oberoi, Advisor on Migration and Human Rights, Thematic Engagement, Special Procedures and Right to Development Division, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
