Meeting of the BRICS working group concerning education. How should the BRICS network university look like?

Russia accepted presidency in the coalition of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). The meeting of the working group on interaction in education became one of the first actions. Vera Skorobogatova, head of the National information centre “Glavexpertcentre”, was the member of the working group from Rosobrnadzor.

The meeting of the working group began with the introduction of participating countries, after that the agenda was approved, within which it was necessary to discuss the principles of creating the BRICS network university, development of cooperation in the field of vocational education. The participants also discussed important questions of unified approaches to quality and recognition of education.

During the meeting Vera Skorobogatova, who acquainted the participants with the system of recognition of foreign education and qualification in Russia, made a report about the prospects of mutual recognition of education and qualification with the BRICS countries and the formation of the general approaches.

According to the offer of the Russian National information center such aspects were included into the final document of the working group:

• the idea of organizing interaction between the competent authorities of the countries for the purpose of development of the general principles of recognition of diplomas and degrees within BRICS;
• the idea of creating a coordination council with the purpose of establishing a general system of quality assessment of education.
